Morning Meet Up is a bi-monthly program co-sponsored by The Connecticut Center for Healthy Aging and the Southington Library.

 We Are All Aging

 Aging is a process!  Sister Suzanne Gross, FSE, Administrator, Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, will present an interesting and refreshing synopsis of “aging” as an attitude and a journey of life .  Her presentation will address the medical, psychological, physical and spiritual needs of the aging person.  Marie Laffin, RN, Clinical Director, will share community resources and services available to seniors

Sugar Tips Prevention and Detection

November 6th, 13th and 20th

At 9:30 am Southington Library Program Room

 The Southington Library is sponsoring a free 3 week series open to the public concerning Diabetes prevention.  “Sugar Tips: Prevention and Detection” series will be presented by Sandra Micalizzi, APRN, CDE, and the Heart Center of Greater Waterbury.

Sandra’s goal is to help the public recognize symptoms and understand metabolic syndrome plus factors associated with the development of diabetes.  The four week series includes suggestions for lifestyle modifications to prevent diabetes with an emphasis on diet and exercise.

 Diabetes is a major risk factor for Heart Disease, by preventing diabetes people can help prevent heart disease.  Diabetes is a wide spread health problem with over 6.2 million individuals going undiagnosed in the United States.
